Meeting room of a small museum in Atlantic Canada. Low-E argon filled glazing (U=.27) used for both skylight and vertical glazing. From late morning to early afternoon overhead sunlight is only partially captured by S/SW oriented windows. Light levels in the glare at table top are a blinding 10,000 lux while the rest of the meeting area receives about 100 lux. Glare and solar infra-red hot spots will make meetings impossible from about 10:30 to 2:00.
Solera employed in the skylight only. Midday sun is broadly scattered and the meeting room is suffused in soft daylight creating an almost perfect example of SoleraSpaceTM. Light levels are 300-500 lux for the table and seating. Low-E coatings are not necessary as Solera's honeycomb transparent insulation delivers an improved thermal transmission (U=.20).
