Solera's honeycomb and veil are highly hygroscopic. When temperatures drop, any internal moisture is absorbed by the omnipresent acrylic rather than condensing on glass surfaces. As temperatures rise, moisture is released to the unit's interior atmosphere and exhausted via the breather tube. The moisture-carrying capacity of a typical 4'X8' (1.25mX2.5m) Solera unit is 3X100% relative humidity at 90 °F (32 °C). Moisture is absorbed at a molecular level and as such may be subjected to extremely low temperatures without damage.
